Training & lecturing

As a science communicator, I regularly give presentations and training workshops to inform, engage and inspire people on environmental issues. My audiences range from school kids to academics and from policymakers to conservation stakeholders.

I am able to provide half-day, one-day and two-day training courses on Science Communication for Academics or Students, which has been rated 4.8 stars out of 5 by past course participants.  Topics include: an introduction to communication, how to write a press release for your research, engaging with policymakers, tips for using social media for research/academics, blogging your science, getting media coverage of your work, and presenting your research orally. Please contact me for availability and rates.

I can provide ad hoc lecturing, workshops and seminars for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Having lectured across the world, from Colombia to China, I have given talks on a wide variety of wildlife conservation topics such as human-wildlife conflict, social science methods to study conservation and how academia can engage policy makers in research.

Public engagement talks:

I have given talks on environmental issues at a wide variety of events, ranging from the Wildlife Safari Show to London Zoo. I am incredibly passionate about reaching out to diverse audiences and engaging them in topics such as healthy and sustainable diets, sustainable agriculture and the illegal wildlife trade.

Please get in touch if you’d like me to speak at your event, run a training workshop with you, host a lecture, or interview me for a story you’re working on.
